When moving to Dallastown, 14-year-old Freshman Lily Steelman didn’t know what was ahead.
She says that moving from Baltimore, Maryland, was the biggest turning point in her life, for the better.
Once Steelman moved, she began to learn new things, such as skiing, playing the piano, and making new friends.
Although these are great things, the most important thing she learned is not to care what people think. She followed the mindset to just be yourself and to get the most out of life.
“The haters will always hate, so just be you,” Steelman said.
Steelman lives by the advice that everything will work out in the end and says, “God always has a plan for you.”
One of her favorite childhood memories is visiting her grandparents in Utah, which is where her love for traveling comes from.
Having already traveled to Paris and loving it, she wants to truly experience everything life has to offer by traveling throughout Europe after high school and seeing where life takes her.
“Everything will work out in the end,” Steelman says, “People focus too much on the future and not enough on the now.”
This is a Humans of Dallastown feature. Our goal is simple: to make a large school smaller by highlighting the unique voices within it.
