Mrs. McCleary, chorus teacher, is the head of the Performing Arts Department.

Performing Arts-Jennifer McCleary

For the last two years Chorus Director Jennifer McCleary has been the Chairperson for the Performing Arts department.

Two of the major roles that McCleary highlighted were “Voicing concerns that the department has to administration [and] listening to ideas that are coming up and see how they will affect the music department. ”

While McCleary technically has all the same responsibilities as all the other departments, her responsibilities are a little more involved.

“Our department is pretty complicated with all of the extra events, concerts, trips, etc. that we take part in.  I spend a lot of time working with my department on logistical things, transportation, set ups for concerts and trips, ” McCleary reported.

Not only is budgeting and scheduling complicated by all the activities, but communication is even more important.

“It takes a lot of time working on buildings and grounds requests and calendar information.  Also, working with other teachers, and administrators on sharing the facilities and logistics.”

Like other department heads, communication is McCleary’s main responsibility.  She acts as a bridge between teachers and administration but her favorite part is “being able to represent and advocate for the music students.”
