Coming back for another exciting year, Dallastown is ready to kick off the Rain Rally!
The Rain Rally is a fundraiser hosted by several schools each year to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Unified Champion Schools program.
This event originated as a spin-off of the well-known “Polar Plunge.” The Rain Rally is for all students to participate in, to raise money and spread awareness for Special Olympics Pennsylvania.
Events are typically held on or near a school campus with the help of a local Fire Department. Students pass through freezing cold water sprayed by a fire engine, creating a ‘rainbow water shower.’
Last year was Dallastown’s first time hosting a Rain Rally, with around 30 participating students.
This year’s outcome is predicted to be much larger than last year’s.
Mr. Kevin Myers, one of the teachers actively involved in Unified Club, explains, “DAIS has had teams participate in the Polar Plunge,” which was one of the school’s motives for starting this event.
Dallastown’s amount raised for the first year was an impressive total of $1000.
“My favorite part of the event is seeing the joy in the eyes of our athletes when they run through the water for the first time with their friends that they have made through unified activities throughout our school,” says committee head, DeAnna Bellomo.

In order to set up the upcoming Rain Rally, students and staff precisely evaluate the success and shortcomings of last year’s event to prepare and enhance for this year.
Bellomo reveals that this year, “The Rain Rally committee is planning to add a brand-new water-based course before they run into the fire hose, and they can work with a team to complete this!”
Unified Club is particularly excited to announce that the invitations to this event have been opened up to the entire district.
Dallastown hopes to gain support from families all across the district and increase awareness of what our schools’ unified programs bring.
