It was a season to remember for the Dallastown’s girls 4×100 team and for freshman Molly McLaughlin.
They broke the school record at the Herb Schmidt Relays and then broke their own record at Twin Valley.
McLaughlin, the relay anchor, sets the race to an end with her fuel, with a PR in the 100 of a whopping 12.28 seconds.
Alonna Dowell the first leg takes off the race, then followed by Olivia Cleaver who accelerates to give the baton to Mariah Black who is the third leg.
“Molly brings energy and the greatest pep talks that we need to hear before big meets and I’m so grateful for her,” Dowell said.
McLaughlin has been running track since 5th grade. She started to seek passion for track when she started to run for a local summer league team called “TTC” also known as the Trojan Track Club.
A Dallastown long jump coach had recommended Molly to join the track team, and that’s where her journey in Track and Field had started.
McLaughlin says “Despite what my speed is or what place I get in a race, I have so much to improve on”
Right now Molly is working on fixing her right arm and her explosive start out of the blocks.
“A lot of people underestimate what fixing something as little as your arms or your start will do with your time” she says.
Now working towards beating the 100m, 200m and the long jump records held here at DHS, McLaughlin stays in shape all year round by training.

She trains with a facility called “S3 Performance Training” located at Heritage Hills gym. She attends all year training to ensure she is doing everything right as an athlete.
S3 Performance Training assist with a lot of things such as increasing your stamina, strengthening your muscles, and helping take care of your body.
The S3 Performance Training is a program designed to improve your performance as an athlete. The coaches there are well experienced and certified in health and fitness fields.
“Track is a very mental sport as well as pure ability” McLaughlin says.
What keeps Molly involved in Track and Field for Dallastown and Trojan track is the great girls she runs with or against.
“ I remember telling my mom at the end of my 8th grade year, “My name is going to be on that record board.” I’m so beyond blessed to hold a record my freshman year with our amazing 4×100 relay” Molly says.
McLaughlins dream is to run college track, she has always wanted to run D1 or D2 in college. She is hoping all her hard work will pay off.
