Dallastown welcomed a new Assistant Athletic Director over the summer.
Ms. Olivia Blasone brings a deep understanding of athletics, strong organizational skills, and a student-first mindset to the world of athletics.
Dallastown Athletics Director Josh Luckenbaugh says the position was a needed addition to the Dallastown program.
“With 36 athletic programs, over 1,400 student-athletes, and more than 270 coaches, the scope of our department is significant. Having an assistant athletics director ensures that we can provide the necessary support, organization, and leadership to maintain a high level of excellence for our students, staff, and community.”
Blasone graduated from Bermudian Springs High School in 2018 and then earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Kutztown University, where she graduated in 2023.
Outside of the classroom, Blasone could be seen playing field hockey. She participated in the sport throughout her high school and college years.
After she graduated from Kutztown, Blasone served as York College’s Assistant Field Hockey Coach, while concurrently working as Penn State York’s Assistant Director of Athletics.
According to Blasone, it was the community that brought her to Dallastown.
“I learned very quickly that the Dallastown community is very close and supportive of each other. Whether that be sports, music, or theater, they all come together to support each other in all aspects.”
As the Assistant Athletics Director, her job encompasses scheduling events, arranging transportation, and managing the Dallastown Athletics social media accounts.
She works side by side with Luckenbaugh to carry out day to day responsibilities.
“While I focus on the broader vision and direction of the department, the assistant director is critical in executing the details that bring that vision to life,” Luckenbaugh said.
During events, she oversees setup, ticketing, ensures all event staff are present, and verifies that the visiting team is well-prepared.
“I chose this career to help student-athletes grow as people, not only on the field but also in the classroom,” Blasone said.
In her new position, Blasone is looking forward to building relationships and connections with her colleagues and students.
