Dallastown Area High School is a fairly big school. Many students, aesthetics, siblings, cousins and even twin students. Identical and fraternal, boy and girl, and Same gender. We’ve even had triplets too! But now for the first time in Dallastown history we have something new.
Seniors Joshua (JD), Logan, Gavin, and Cody Prelich are quadruplets.
Now in their senior year of high school, they have attended Dallastown since kindergarten.
The first day of kindergarten is usually a nerve racking day, for parents, and children, having to be separated from your siblings and parents for the first time is hard
However for the quads it came just a bit easier for them.
“It actually made school really easy. Most kids suffer from some sort of separation anxiety on the first day away from their families for elementary. Because most of our entire family went with us to school (my brothers), we never had to experience anything like that. It was annoying being mistaken for each other all the time though lol.” JD said
Now as the quads get ready to graduate and move on to college, this will be the first time they are not going to be together academically.
“There hasn’t been a week of my life where I haven’t seen at least one of them,” Logan explained.
The quads were separated in groups of two from Leaders Heights Elementary all the way up to eighth grade in the middle school.
High school gave them a slight increase in freedom, but college is going to be a big change for them.
“While it does feel somewhat freeing not seeing them everywhere, I am not looking forward to the anxiety that comes with the first day of classes lol,” JD said.
The quads were born only seconds apart.
JD was born first, Gavin second, Cody third, and Logan last.
Many may have noticed that three out of the four of them look pretty close to identical, while Logan is fraternal.
“The other three are all identical. I am fraternal, which means I was developed separately from the rest (different egg), although we do all share similar features like body type, weight, some features in the face, and hair,” Logan said.
They each have their own interests too.
Cody is musically and technologically inclined, serving as the CyberPatriot team captain.
JD considers himself more introverted and analytical, often seen as the “critical thinker” of the group.
Gavin is known for his high energy, and Logan, the quieter sibling, keeps to himself.
“While we might look alike, we’re entirely different personality-wise,” JD said.
Many have age gaps between them and their siblings, this is not the case for the quads.
“It definitely has a different impact. Usually, older siblings (somewhat) parent the younger ones, playing a part in their development. This makes a more typical dynamic/pecking order. But, with everybody the same age, the dynamic is far less static. It is a lot more chaotic,” JD explained.
While JD believes it is different dynamic wise, Cody believes the only difference there is, is the age difference.
“It seems like it would be but in reality it’s just like any other siblingship with big and little siblings, except instead of five years it’s five seconds apart,” Cody said.
The quads have had their struggles and eases of their own as a sibling, part of a unique family, student , and being their own person.
They have always been close, now things are going to start to change as graduation and college nears.
