Business-Robert Donatelli
Robert Donatelli is in his third year as the Buisiness department chairperson after former department chair Mrs. Noble moved to counseling.
“I was nominated by Dr. Fletcher to lead our department. . .An interview process usually happens with administration to get a new Department Chairperson. My case was a unique situation because Mrs. Noble, former Department Chair moved onto guidance and the other teacher retired, which left me as the senior member of the department at that time,” Donatelli explained.
Since the business department only includes four teachers, they work very closely together and with administration.
“We make sure our members know what’s happening. That ranges from scheduling, to updates on curriculum, to new additions that we want to do, and we mostly kind of echo what Dr. Fletcher, our boss, says. . . really we just make sure we’re on the same page of what we’re teaching and how we’re teaching it and try to facilitate that collaboration and teamwork.”
Donatelli discussed his communication responsibilities, the importance of scheduling, and also commented on the budgeting needs of the business department.
“I have to check in with all of my department members and see what do they need in terms of books, supplies, transportation, field trips, and things like that,” Donatelli elaborated.
While the Business department may have a few unique needs, Donatelli expressed gratitude for the special circumstances, particularly the small size of their department.
“Some of the departments are bigger; it’s a little more challenging. We have three of us–four including myself–and I think we all get along really well.”
