Joe Alex- Girl’s Lacrosse

Active in lacrosse coaching positions for the past 25 years, Joe Alex currently holds the position of Dallastown’s girl’s lacrosse head coach. Alex coaches alongside assistant coaches Christin Beetz, Lindsey Ellis, Megan Anderson and Mary Eckert.

When he was younger, Alex was a member of his high school’s boys lacrosse team and played at the collegiate level at Junior College.

With the involvement and interest of girl’s lacrosse growing throughout York County, Alex says that fostering a constructive environment to learn the game of lacrosse is important to his coaching. “Ultimately, players returning and becoming better each day is the metric of success,” Alex states. “I absolutely love when players return to coaching or introduce their families to the game.”

Throughout his years of coaching, Alex said he enjoys seeing new players progress and reach their first milestones as an athlete.

Looking back on the 2020 season and the loss of a season, Alex noted the difficulty and sadness that each of his athletes felt. “I felt bad for last year’s seniors losing not only their athletic seasons, but prom and other rites of high school passage,” Alex said.

For Alex and the team, this season will be a practice and constant exercise in flexibility. He hopes that the team not only will adapt to the conditions currently in place due to COVID-19, but also work hard toward having a winning season. “Making the district playoffs is a goal for our program,” he said.
