Grace Treml, junior, is one of Dallastown’s eight PMEA All-State Musicians. She plays the clarinet.

As a junior, Grace Treml is a well-accomplished, talented musician, like all of the PMEA State students.
She began clarinet in fourth grade and started taking lessons with Jennifer Leitzel since fifth grade.
“Having virtual video auditions was really weird,” Treml said. “When you’re not playing for a live audience it’s much less stressful because you know you can re-record it until it’s the best it can be.”
Like the other ensembles, District Band was a virtual ensemble recording this year, and unlike most years, there was no wind participation in the District Orchestra.
Treml says, “I have participated in District Band since eighth grade and was first chair this year!”
She also made Regional Band last year, and District Orchestra as well as All-State Wind Ensemble, of course, this year.
“My favorite thing about PMEA festivals is getting to meet new people and playing with a high-level group,” said Treml.
Keeping a busy high school life, Treml is involved with many musical ensembles and activities as well as French Club, National French Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Global Scholars (for French).
She plans to continue to be involved in music through college but hasn’t made any concrete decisions yet.
Treml said, “I don’t think I could pick a favorite piece, but Children’s March from District Band last year was so fun!”
