Mrs. Bouchillon
Following high school Bouchillon attended Penn State for her bachelors in Psychology. After receiving her bachelors she attended Shippensburg University for her masters in school counseling.
Bouchillon has been a guidance counselor for five years.
Her thoughts on student concerns: “Some of their concerns are making it on their own and being independent. The biggest suggestion I give is to practice now! Try making your own appointments, grocery shopping, cooking, doing laundry, etc, while you are still in high school. The transition will be much smoother if the student starts now while still living at home”.
Bouchillon recommends any student considering college in their future to take the SAT or ACT and they can use Khan Academy, ACT.org, or College Board to prepare.
For her students not considering college, her advice is “Have a plan! Try to get experience while still in high school, whether it is a pre-apprenticeship, YCST, HACC Academy, shadowing, utilizing career fairs, etc. We have tons of opportunities that you may not even know about – touch base with your school counselor!”
