Room 107 of the high school has been transformed into a cozy new counseling room that will be used for college visits, group meetings and more.

Room 107 of the high school doesn’t really look like any other room.

This new room, used by the counseling office for group sessions, teacher meetings, college rep visits, and other various reasons is located in Mr. Witmer’s old room.

Mr. Probert, Dallastown career & college counselor, describes the new room as, “a safe, student friendly, space that is not just a regular classroom.”

Although students will not have open access to it, the room is to help students feel comfortable and safe while using it.

Why was the room created?

Due to the additional counselors that have joined the staff in recent years, they ran out of space in the counseling office for a conference room or any other space like this new room.

The school decided to take room 107, which was vacant after English teacher Mr. Witmer’s retirement, and make it different from a traditional classroom or conference area.

To make the room student-friendly, couches and soft twinkle lights were put in. There are also carpets, artwork, end tables and lamps.

According to Probert, this room will be utilized often for different group and counseling needs.
