For many, the fall season garners favorites such as an autumnal chill, festive decorating, and wooly knit sweaters. However, for many eager-eyed seniors looking to attend college, fall is the optimal time to apply for their dream college(s.)
To the ACAC (American College Application Campaign,) the reason seniors apply is very valuable to them as a campaign.
On September 20, 2024, #WhyApply day embarks upon the application process where many seniors, principally with first generation college students in mind, can express why they are applying.
Applying doesn’t have to be limited to a run of the mill 4 year college; it can include attending technical schools, community colleges, trade schools, participating in apprenticeship programs, and even employment.
“College isn’t for everyone. But there are many professions out there that require formal post-secondary education. The day helps to encouraging students to start the application process,” remarked Kellin McCullough, who is Dallastown’s College, Career, and Transition Coordinator.
Everyone is encouraged to don their finest collegiate attire. Additionally, they proudly adorn whiteboards with their reasoning for how important applying is or why they are applying.
However, #WhyApply day doesn’t just stop there, as ACAC works around the clock doing application events up until December.
ACAC anticipates that there will be 9,000 High School application completion events from September to December.
