Dallastown High School’s Video Production Club (VPC) showcased their creativity and teamwork this fall with the annual Scream Fest competition. The event challenged participants to film and edit a short horror film in just four hours, with this year’s prompt: “Technology can be an evil thing.”
Seven teams of students took part, each crafting unique films while sticking to the rules. The competition drew inspiration from STN’s Horror Fest, an international event where aspiring filmmakers produce one-minute horror films based on a different prompt each year. This year, the guidelines required teams to feature a protagonist who communicated solely through technology and included a scene lit only by a screen.
As the event concluded, teams voted to recognize the best film overall and the top performances in specific categories, celebrating the hard work and creativity of all participants.
The team comprised of seniors Julie Cioffi, Brady Bowman, Connor Fegley, Warren Kabamba, and junior Vincent Cialini emerged victorious with their film, “The Simulation.”
The winning film was submitted to the STN competition. Results will be announced on October 31.
