The Vaccine Controversy

Whether the talk is about mandating them, the effects of them, or the availability of them, no one can deny that vaccines have been dominating the news recently. But are they the solution or an even bigger problem?

The COVID-19 Vaccine is slowly becoming more accessible to more and more Americans. According to NPR, 66.1 million people (19.9% of the total US population) have been vaccinated.

In 2021, one of the most current topics in America is the progress and availability of the COVID-19 vaccines being produced mainly by Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer. Many people believe that vaccines and herd immunity are the best way to eradicate the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to top health experts, like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the only way to  “stop the spread”  of COVID-19 is through  “herd immunity.”  Some are even going so far as to push for mandatory vaccinations or even things like  “vaccine passports,”  which would require people who travel across the United States and in foreign countries to get a vaccine.

But is herd immunity really the only way to “stop the spread”?

Even the World Health Organization (WHO) admits on their website that  “the proportion of the population that must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to begin inducing herd immunity is not known.”

Are vaccines the only solution to get back to normal?

I’m not so sure they are.

Definitions

To begin, let’s define some of popular terminology that is used in the vaccine debate, beginning with the term  “vaccine.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines a  “vaccine”  as  “a product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease.”

The CDC also defines  “immunity”  as  “protection from an infectious disease.”

Finally,  “herd immunity,”  as defined by the WHO, is  “the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection.”

Even if the vaccines could produce the needed herd immunity to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Dr. Joseph Mercola, one of the educated doctors going against the grain to protest mandatory vaccinations, makes the convincing argument that what the government claims to be a COVID-19 vaccine is not a vaccine in the first place.

He states,  “mRNA COVID-19 vaccines aren’t vaccines in the medical and legal definition of a vaccine… They do not prevent you from getting the infection, nor do they prevent its spread. They’re really experimental gene therapies.”

Conveniently, neither the CDC nor the WHO has a definition of  “gene therapy.”

Fortunately, MedlinePlus does, and according to their definition,  “gene therapy is an experimental technique that uses genes to treat or prevent disease.”

Gene Therapy?

Although experimental gene therapies and vaccines may seem like they are the same thing, they are not.

“Gene therapy can be used to modify cells inside or outside the body. When it’s done inside the body, a doctor will inject the vector carrying the gene directly into the part of the body that has defective cells,”  states the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

“In gene therapy that is used to modify cells outside of the body, blood, bone marrow, or another tissue can be taken from a patient, and specific types of cells can be separated out in the lab. The vector containing the desired gene is introduced into these cells. The cells are left, to multiply in the laboratory, and are then injected back into the patient, where they continue to multiply and eventually produce the desired effect.”

Mandating a vaccine while it’s still under an emergency use approval is ‘legally and ethically problematic.’

— Dr. Mercola

The Mandate

These gene therapy  “vaccines”  aren’t even FDA approved. What Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer are rolling out is experimental and only emergency approved. Because of this (and that fact they’re not able to be classified as a real vaccine), the effects of a mandate now could be catastrophic to future generations.

“If an experimental vaccine were to be mandated, it would set a frightening precedent and pave the way for all sorts of nonconsensual medical experimentation on the general public, going forward,”  Mercola states.  “Mandating a vaccine while it’s still under an emergency use approval is ‘legally and ethically problematic.’”

Even if there weren’t any government issued mandates, there could still be  “unsaid”  mandatory vaccinations, which could also be destructive for future generations.

“Even if state and federal governments don’t mandate the vaccine, by barring unvaccinated people from traveling, participating in social events and even entering into government buildings, they are essentially mandating it,”  Mercola explains.  “Unvaccinated people would become second-class citizens that aren’t permitted to work, travel, conduct business or engage socially. What kind of life is that?”

The COVID-19 vaccine is  “a medical fraud of unprecedented magnitude,”  Mercola adds,  “and it really needs to be stopped before it’s too late for a majority of people.”

The Swedish Approach

Vaccinations aren’t the only solution to stopping the pandemic’s spread.

In Sweden, public health officials didn’t implement shutdowns, mask mandates, or quarantines.

“Senior [citizens] and other high-risk individuals were asked to stay home, social distance and mask up, while all others were free to live much as they normally would,”  Mercola explains.

Using this logical strategy, vaccinations weren’t needed, and the statistics proved Sweden did better without the use of vaccines.

“According to the Imperial College of London model (which has repeatedly been proven to be fantastically incorrect),”  Mercola enthusiastically points out,  “Sweden would have been looking at a death toll of 80,000 by the end of June 2020 if it didn’t lock down.”

“Alas, the true number, by mid-September 2020, after no lockdowns at all, still only stood at 5,880, a vast majority of whom were elderly with comorbidities. In fact, of those, only 872 were a direct result of COVID-19. The rest had one or more conditions that contributed to their death.”

Vaccine Alternatives

Being outside and soaking up the sunlight is one of the best ways to get Vitamin D. Eating seafood, mushrooms, egg yolks, fortified foods (like yogurt and orange juice), and taking Vitamin D supplements are other ways to get this important vitamin in your body. (digitearte via Flickr)

Vitamin D.

Vitamin D.

Vitamin D.

Getting outside has never been more important.

“Vitamin D can reduce your risk of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections by reducing the survival and replication of viruses, reducing inflammatory cytokine production, maintaining endothelial integrity and increasing ACE2 concentrations, which helps lower COVID-19 severity,”  explains Mercola.

Basically, having high levels of vitamin D can lower your risk for having a severe reaction to COVID-19.

According to recent research, 82.2% of COVID-19 patients tested were found to be deficient in vitamin D,”  Mercola continues,  “and vitamin D status has been shown to influence your risk of testing positive for COVID-19, hospitalization rates and need for intensive care, as well as your risk of dying from the infection.”

But for saying this, the FDA and Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) quickly came after Mercola, accusing that his claims were false.

“According to the FDA,”  Mercola writes,  “vitamin C, vitamin D3 and quercetin products are  “unapproved new drugs sold in violation of section 505(a) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.”  The agency is also listing Mercola.com on its Fraudulent COVID-19 Products page.”

“The CSPI is trying to censor my efforts to educate people on how to avoid vitamin D deficiency which, without doubt, places them at far higher risk of complications and death from respiratory infections. Well, I am not going to allow people to die from COVID-19 and other respiratory infections due to vitamin D deficiency.”

Conclusion

America is still a free country, and it is the people’s right to ensure the continuity of freedom for the future generations

Any further misinformation about the COVID-19 experimental gene therapies and solutions that worked elsewhere should be disclosed, so people know what they’re really signing up for. If not, future precedents regarding government-enforced or mandatory vaccinations could set the people of America up for fear and regret.

And while vaccines may be helpful in some circumstances, they are not the end all be all of public health and safety.
