Special Events and Fundraising Committee

The second Mini-THON ends up until the next years event, this committee works hard. As one of the larger committees they are constantly planning and holding events to raise money For The Kids!

This committee is run by Miss. Gable is the only one that works all year round.

The committee is in charge of all events and fundraisers outside of the main Mini-THON event.

Students organize a variety of fundraisers such as Why Cook Wednesdays, canning at various restaurants, holiday gift wrapping, homecoming dress sale, Beat Cancer sporting events, holiday online auction, online t-shirt/clothing sales, Man Candy Monday, Women Candy Wednesday, No Shave November, and much more.

The money they raise throughout the year goes towards holding the main event and the total that is announced at 7 a.m.

These creative minds constantly brainstorm ideas for new fundraisers and decorate the VIP room for the main event.

Senior Lydia Tolerico joined the special events and fundraising committee sophomore year and hasn’t left the committee since.

“The hardest part is that we really have to be working constantly all year from right after Mini-THON ends in March all the way until the night of Mini-THON the following year.”

While these students do have more of a relaxing time the night of Mini-THON they stay very hands-on the rest of the year because their overall goal is to raise as much money as possible.

The committee members get excited every time a fundraiser comes up, you will often see it publicized on social media Instagram: @dallastownminithon, and word of mouth throughout the school.

The Beat Cancer Football game is an annual event for Special Events and Fundraising. They sell t-shirts, have a Four Minutes for Four Diamonds fundraiser, and this year the Four Diamonds families joined them for the game. (Hannah Atkinson)

Tolerico knew she wanted to join Mini-THON because she loved the cause it stands for and wanted to help out as much as possible. She had also always heard nothing but amazing things about the event and how fun it was, so she knew it would be a very exciting thing to be a part of!

Tolerico especially wanted to join Special Events and Fundraising because though it can be stressful at times she likes getting to do Mini-THON events all year round and she loves the organizational aspect of it.

If you enjoy planning, want to work year-round, and help with a variety of activities, special events and fundraising is definitely for you.

One fundraiser that special events organizes is Push Week, where for one week students and faculty of Dallastown promise to complete crazy tasks for every $1,000 raised on Donor Drive. Check out this video that the video production committee put together!
