A common high school student procrastinates and wastes time, but seniors have historically taken laziness to a whole new level.

Senioritis, procrastination, laziness. You can call it many things, but good isn’t one of them. Senioritis the the prolific nickname for seniors getting lazy, and not completing work. This is usually common amongst seniors, but can appear in anyone in high school who is acting lazy.

The majority of people see senioritis as a form of laziness, an excuse to not do work and give themselves more free time to do whatever they want. Although others believe its born from a fear that if they try too hard, that they’ll exhaust themselves and get hurt. Others feel as though that

Mr. Schneider from the Learning Center, claims that senioritis is an example of students “getting more caught up in the future than in the now.”  Since seniors feel as though they are all ready for college, they don’t care all that much about what is happening in the now. He also feels that more male seniors have this state of mind than the female seniors.

“I believe that it is caused by the fact that they are more focused on the future than they are on what’s going on now. And that they get so caught up in that future they forget whats going on now, that they get so narrow minded to that future, forgetting they need to get through the present to get to that future.”

Seniors suffering from senioritis constantly use sticky notes to help remind themselves of what they should be doing- but rarely do it.

Mrs. Stanley from the learning center states that she believes it is a form of unique laziness exclusive to the seniors, hence the nickname senioritis. She describes it as a form of laziness in the way of thinking that the students are nearly done with their high school life, and they don’t need to care as much as they once did in earlier years.

“I believe they just don’t care as much as they once did, leading them to drop their work and focus purely on how they feel and their social life.”

Students all around the planet, in any school, can be and will be lazy in some way or another. Which leads to spreading, leading to even more people becoming lazy, causing an endless cycle.
