The Courtyard Cafe
This picturesque location serves up espresso, smoothies, and a ton of atmosphere.
Who doesn’t love healthy smoothies and espresso?
In Downtown York, located by Central Market House, Cherie Anne’s Courtyard cafe has all of the above.
Tucked behind a little boutique, on 48 W Philadelphia St., lies the quaint cafe with a colorful courtyard that’s decorated with vintage furniture, fairy lights, and plants galore.
Whether your taste is for healthy smoothies or sweet drinks, Cherie Anne’s has it all. The “Long Live the Green,” is one of their most popular smoothies: it contains spinach, banana, mango, pineapple, mint and matcha.
The Lavender caramel tea latte is another favorite, and “a delectable little cup of heaven best enjoyed in the autumn coolness or rainy Sunday morning,” says Molly Fischer who has run the cafe since October 2016.
Although many come for the delicious espresso drinks and smoothies, the courtyard itself is a wonderful place to hangout.
“First Fridays are popular with the younger crowd…it’s so fun to snap pictures with friends under the lights in the courtyard,” Fischer said.
Many Dallastown students agree.
“Every once in a while they have pastries. I love the chocolate and strawberry macaroons. I like sitting there with a smoothie and just relaxing,” junior Taylor Witmer said.
Junior Larisa Samryk enjoys the courtyard most during the holidays.
“I went to the courtyard last year on First Friday and Santa was there. There was holiday music and hot chocolate. It was a jolly time!”
Currently there is no indoor seating; however, in the winter time Fischer puts out heaters so customers can wrap themselves in blankets and enjoy their lavender tea lattes in colder weather.
Today, Fischer is working on expanding the cafe to provide indoor seating, longer hours, and and a new healthy menu.
Quiches, salads, soups, snacks and more will be included on the new menu, as well as other gluten free and vegan options.
Fischer plans to continue to maintain the courtyard space and change the name to “Molly’s Courtyard Cafe.”
The new space should be open by November at the latest, until then, Cherie Anne’s Courtyard Cafe is a wonderful place to spend the morning and enjoy a delicious drink.
