Video Production teacher Mr. Klinedinst is a sponsored triathlete. This summer he participated in a Half-Ironman in Quebec, Canada.

This past summer, one of Dallastown’s own was spotted in Quebec swimming 1.2 miles, biking 56 miles, and running 13.1 miles.
On June 24, video production teacher Mr. Klinedinst participated in a Half Ironman in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.
Along with 3,182 other participants, he began the race of swimming, biking, and running.
Participants came from all around the world to compete in this race. Along with several Canadians, participants came from the U.S., Australia, France, and Spain.
Klinedinst finished with a time of four hours and twenty-one minutes.
Including all the professionals, Klinedinst finished 31st. In his division, he placed 2nd.
Not only did Klinedinst dedicate hours worth of time for this race, but he also dedicates hours every day to training for these races.
A normal day will consist of 2 workouts, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, for 1-3 hours.
“On the weekends, I will do a longer workout, normally 5-6 hours,” he said.
Klinedinst has participated in several races around the U.S., including Ohio, but this race was one of the bigger events he has attended.
With the team he races for, he has “obligations to participate in the bigger events.”
Klinedinst claimed the race was at a good time, and he felt the location would be somewhere his family would enjoy as well, so it was perfect.
The Half Ironman was not the only highlight of the trip.
While in Quebec, Klinedinst and his family kept themselves very busy.
He says he and his family “…did some hiking, swimming, gondola rides, walked through a light show on the mountain and , of course, ate at plenty of excellent restaurants.”
Overall, it was a great trip and not only did he get to do what he loves, he got to do it with his family.
“I’m so lucky for all the support from Mrs. Klinedinst and my daughters Marley and Piper,” Klinedinst added.
He is now in preparation for his next race, which will be a Full Ironman. This includes swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and running 26.2 miles.
The race will occur on September 29th, so until then, you can find Mr. Klinedinst in room 265 or out training!
