Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a 2022 action comedy film directed by Jeff Fowler and produced by Paramount Pictures, Sega, and Original Film. The movie follows Sonic (Ben Schwartz), an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog with super speed.

Released to theaters on April 8, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was an instant success, with hundreds of fans flooding cinemas like Regal Theaters with eager anticipation.

Shortly after the events of the first film, evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Kerry) escapes the Mushroom Planet with the help of an anthropomorphic red echidna named Knuckles (Idris Elba). Together, the two team up to seek revenge on Sonic and search for the Master Emerald, a mythical gem described to possess ultimate power.

Meanwhile, Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) and Maddie Wachowski (Tika Sumpter) travel to Hawaii while Sonic watches over the house. However, after hearing of Robotnik’s return, Sonic teams up with an anthropomorphic yellow fox named Miles “Tails” Prower (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) to recover the Master Emerald before Robotnik and Knuckles do.

Upon its release to theaters, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 received positive reviews, with many praising its stunning animation, its incredible cast of characters, its absolute hilarious moments, its extraordinary story lore, and its multifarious amount of easter eggs and game references. Only a few were unsettled with the film, due to some foul language and dirty jokes.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was rated as PG, primarily aimed for kids and families to watch. However, one could argue that PG-13 would’ve been a more appropriate rating for the film because of the unnecessary foul language and dirty jokes the movie had.

In the endgame, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 deserves 8 out of 10 rings; the film does a spectacular job bringing its characters to life, comprising a multitude of well hidden easter eggs, and stacking loads of comedy, but some of the humor went a bit too far. Nonetheless, this film is still a sensationally exquisite sequel for families and Sonic fans to enjoy together.
